AW-VE 500 -2000 Ion exchanger

Demineralisation  plant

General Information

A VE plant generates demineralized water with a conductivity value of <10 µS/cm using ion exchange technology.

Contrary to the mechanical filtration, which removes solid substances from the water, this procedure lets the ions suspended in the solution react with the interexchanger resin.
The ions are exchanged in the interexchanger. The water filtration speed in the resin column is limited by the diffusion speed of the ions to be exchanged.

Principle

Demineralization using a ion exchange process.

Function

Water has to be free of suspended matter and fats or oil, since these can damage the ion exchange resins and impede the process.
The plant works in ascending flow and regenerates in descending flow, meaning that water flows through the filtration columns from bottom to top, while the regenerating agents (hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solution) flow in from top to bottom.

The plant is controlled by a conductivity meter in the ion exchanger discharge. If the desired maximum demineralization value is exceeded, (between 10 – 20  µS/cm  depending on use case), it has to be regenerated. The plant should not be overloaded to prevent damage to the exchange resins and reduction of pure water quality..

Installation

The plant is delivered in compact form, mounted on a steel rack and ready for connection. On site, the lead connections (city water, pressured air), chemicals, connection for pure water, discharge connection and electrical connection have to be created.

Benefits

  • best pure water quality
  • usable for process solutions
  • no thermal load
  • basic approach
  • automated controlling
  • easy to use
