AW-MF 50 - 2000 Micro-filtration Plant

Filtration of liquids

General Information

Micro-filtration means the filtration of particles in the area of 0.1 to 320  µm from a liquid. This area represents an important spectrum, since optimization of the separation process for particles of this size is a challenge in economic as well as quality terms – especially when the liquid contains a lot of solid matter or if solid matter needs to be concentrated. To prevent the formation of a surface layer, the tangential flow rate to the membrane has to be high, which is called cross-flow filtration or dynamic filtration.

Principle

Filtration of liquids with modules

Function

The active bath is pumped through a prefilter that separates any suspended matter into the working storage of the plant. Supply is controlled by a level sensor. The solution is then pumped from the working storage through the membrane filters.
The membranes separate the particles from solution which permeates through and is collected back to the active bath. The separated particles stay in the circulation and are concentrated in relation to the amount of filtered water. The filtration ratio of the plant is reduced by rising filtrate concentration. When the filtration ratio sinks below one of the maximum concentrations, the plant discharges the concentrate and rinses the system by pumping a cleaning solution from the rinsing tank through it. After the cleaning process, the working storage tank is supplied with new active bath and the plant start to work.

Installation

The plant is delivered in compact form, mounted on a steel rack with height-adjustable feet and ready for connection. On site, the lead connections (city water, pressured air, active bath), connection for pure water, discharge connection and electrical connection have to be created.
